Workforce Development (Workforce)

What is Workforce?

The Empowered Communities Workforce Development (Workforce) Program centers around the professional development of individuals across various segments to support the health and wellbeing of the Virginia community. The Workforce program is set out to identify gaps within the supply of professionals aiming to improve public health outcomes, create a systematic pipeline to develop and progress individuals through professional curriculums in order to better serve the health and well being of the Virginia public.

Who is involved in Workforce?

Workforce has professionals from various clinical and non-clinical backgrounds involved in the development and execution of the program. Peer Recovery Specialists (PRS’s), mental health (MH) professionals, clinicians, academics, social service partners, and others are involved in standing up various programs under the Workforce Umbrella. All programs within Workforce take a cross-sector approach and incorporate the perspectives and expertise from a wide variety of community partners to ensure a diverse perspective and curriculum.

How does Workforce Connect?

Workforce is involved in upskilling, training, and deploying individuals in a cross-sector approach. The Workforce program partners with a wide variety of community stakeholders, such as criminal justice professionals, social service partners, clinical professionals, and others to support our community in developing a workforce prepared to address critical public health issues impacting our community.
